Even though The Beatles were originally
from Liverpool, when they became famous they had to
move to London, as the music industry was based in the
Capital. Although they never forgot their roots, The
'Fab Four' were very much at the centre of what became
known as 'Swinging London'.
Presented by Richard Porter, professional Beatles tour
guide, author of the book "Guide to the Beatles
London" and owner of the Beatles Coffee Shop, this
DVD takes you around all the major Beatles sites in
London. Co-presenters include Tom Murray, photographer
on The Beatles 'Mad Day' photo session in 1968; and
Beatles author and collector Keith Badman.
The DVD is produced by Artsmagic, who have also released
DVDs of The Beatles Liverpool and Hamburg.
|
Sites visited include: Abbey Road; 3 Savile Row, where The
Beatles gave their last ever live performance on the roof;
film sites for A Hard Day's Night and Help; their former homes;
clubs where they used to hang out, and many more. We also
see INSIDE the studio where The Beatles recorded Hey Jude.
The DVD also features interviews with David Janson, the then
child actor who appeared in A Hard Day's Night; and Beatles
author and 'Mersey Beat' publisher Bill Harry.
A highlight is an interview Chris Dreja, guitarist of The
Yardbirds, who supported The Beatles on their Christmas Show
in 1964, on the very stage where they performed and backstage
in the dressing rooms. Learn which famous song Paul McCartney
played to The Yardbirds some eight months before it was released.
Presenter Richard Porter guides five scheduled Beatles tours

John Lennons New York 2 Disc Collectors
Edition
A Magical History Tour
Over 3 hours of original footage!
Regarded by many as the most important influence on
the pop scene, and as the leader of the ultimate supergroup,
The Beatles, John Lennons significance has been
seen to spread far beyond the rock n roll
arena.
Despite having been demonized when he claimed The Beatles
were more popular than Jesus Christ, Lennon, a supreme
ironist, would have enjoyed the fact that he is now
regarded as one of the most engaging humanists of the
twentieth century.
|
This reputation is largely due to his time in
New York, where he lived for a quarter of his life, his ultimate
tribute to his love of the American people and their music.
Guided by Trina Yannicos and Susan Ryan we make a grand tour
of the Big Apple, honing in on the sites that will be forever
associated with The Beatles and John Lennon. We visit the
homes of where he and Yoko Ono lived together, the eateries,
the recording studios, and finally Strawberry Fields, the
spot in Central Park where New Yorkers repaid their respect
to the man who had fallen in love with their city.
The tour is enlivened by insightful interviews with characters
the godfather of punk David Peel, photographer Allan Tennenbaum
and Tamiko Steinberg with her diverting memories of the days
when she was employed to teach Lennon Japanese.
This is John Lennons New York, finally put together
in the form of a permanent record dedicated to a unique man.
